Years ago I decided that I needed a personal creative project. I craved something that I could do in the evening after I shut down my computer… a creative departure… another way to play with color and texture. I set out to learn how to knit. One basic project led to another more complex endeavor. I began to dream of spinning and dying my own yarn. I had plans to buy a loom and create wearable art that combined knitting and weaving. I took a class on how to design my own patterns.

Well, as sometimes happens in life, plans are momentarily derailed. We moved to a different city and made plans to build a new home. This quickly became the largest creative project of my life. It was a wonderful way to parlay out my creative whims.

Recently I began to feel that familiar creative tug again. Perhaps I should knit. So here I am finishing up my first basic project with a hankering to move on to something bigger. My eyes aren’t as big as they once were, but what has not changed is that incredible satisfaction that comes from completing a creative project, whether it be knitting or a graphic design commission for a client.
